FICA stands for Financial Intelligence Centre Act, legislation implemented by the South African government in an effort to fight crimes related to money laundering and online or land-based related financial crimes. FICA is regulated and implemented by the Western Cape Gambling and Racing Board (WCGRB).

In order to meet the requirements of FICA legislation, Betway is required to collect identification verification documents (Copy of ID, Proof of Residence) from each customer in order to protect you, and to prevent any fraudulent activities.

Will my information be stored safely?

Betway maintains a dedicated server which is kept safely off-site and only a small group of trustworthy, well selected and trained agents have access to the information.

How do I submit my FICA documents?

Should your identification not be verified automatically on registration of your Betway account, you will be required to send us a copy of your ID document to fica@betway.co.za. Upon successful verification of your ID document, we will then activate your Betway account. You may only be required to send through a recent copy of your Proof of Residence later, usually when you request a withdrawal.

It may take up to 24 business hours in order to review your documents once received.

To change your personal details (except for your mobile number which is a unique identifier on our database), please send an e-mail with your username (mobile number) and the details you wish to change to support@betway.co.za and we will provide you with feedback within 24 hours.

  2. Navigate to your "My Account" tab
  3. Select the "Deposit Funds" option
  4. Select your preferred deposit method
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions

What deposit methods are available?

We currently offer a number of deposit methods. Instant deposit methods offered at Betway include i-Pay and SiD (instant bank transfer), Visa/MasterCard and OTT Voucher. We also offer EFT bank transfers with FNB, ABSA, Standard Bank and Nedbank.

Why is my deposit not reflecting in my account?

If you utilised any of the instant deposit methods and the deposit was successful, please click on the Cash button on the top left hand side of your Betway account in order to refresh your balance.

If the amount still not reflected in your account, there may be a connection failure between the Bank and Betway. In this case, you will be required to email us the PDF proof of deposit to eftclearance@betway.co.za and allow a couple of hours for our banking team to retrieve the funds. Please bear in mind that this may take up to 48 hours.

Please take note of the following allocation time in regards to normal EFT deposits:

  • 09:00 – 10:00
  • 13:00 – 14:00
  • 17:00 – 18:00
  • 20:00 – 21:00

What to bet on:

At Betway, you can place a bet on soccer, rugby, basketball and more from your PC or, if you download our App, from your mobile device.

  3. On your preferred fixture, select which team you think will win. You can also click More Bets to view the full range of betting options available on each fixture
  4. Once you have made your bets, your selections will be added to your betslip automatically
  5. Complete your betslip by entering the amount you wish to bet and click Bet Now

How do I use a Free Bet?

  1. Log into your Betway account
  2. Click the Sport or Live tab
  3. Select your preferred bet
  4. Click on “Use My Free Bet”
  5. Confirm your bet

Why can’t I place a bet?

This could be due to a connection timeout error on your mobile device or computer. We suggest that you perform the steps below to try and resolve the matter:

  • Log out from your Betway account
  • Clear the cache and cookies on your Internet browser as well as all temporary files
  • Log back in and try again

Should the issue persist, please try from a different device or computer and check that your internet connection is not the issue. If the matter if still not resolved, please contact us and ensure you have the exact error message, your betting selections, and a screenshot of the error if possible to allow us to investigate and fix the problem for you.

How do I view my betting history?

  1. Log into your Betway account
  2. Click the “My Account” tab on the top right hand corner
  3. Click the “My Bet” tab
  4. The “Open Bets” tab will populate all the bets which are still to be concluded, while the “Settled Bets” populates bets that have already been settled

How does the early Cash Out feature work?

Betway's early Cash Out feature allows you to get money back on your sports betting wager before the game is over.

The amount of money you get back is determined at the time you accept the offer and will depend upon the current likelihood of the bet winning or not. It could be greater or less than the initial stake but will never be more than the initial potential payout.

  1. Log into your account
  2. Navigate to your "My Account" tab
  3. Select the "Withdraw Funds" option
  4. Complete the withdrawal form by providing us with your bank account details
  5. Enter the amount you wish to withdraw and click "Proceed"
  6. Please note that additional FICA verification may be required

What withdrawal methods can I use?

Withdrawals are paid to the bank account that you provided us with when your withdrawal was requested. Unfortunately we do not make payments to third party bank accounts.

How long will my withdrawal take?

Withdrawals generally take between one and two business days to reflect in your bank account. If you have provided us with all the necessary information to process your withdrawal request and you have still not received your money within two business days, please send an e-mail to support@betway.co.za with your username, the date you requested your withdrawal, and the amount of the withdrawal in order to allow a support agent to process your query.

Kindly note that a withdrawal may be delayed due to various reasons such as maintenance, a banking error, etc. This rarely happens.

Can I cancel my withdrawal request?

You are more than welcome to contact us should wish to reverse your withdrawal back into your Betway account in order to continue to place bets.

Kindly note that this is only possible if your winnings haven’t been successfully exported to your bank account by our Finance team. Also be aware that we can’t reverse a portion of the funds, the full withdrawal amount requested will be deposited back into your Betway account.

There a couple of possible reasons:

  • One or more games on your betslip is yet to be decided
  • When it comes to amateur or smaller sports leagues, it can sometimes take a couple of hours for the league to confirm the result
  • Due to maintenance or unforeseen technical issues

If all games on a betslip have played and completed, please allow up to an hour for your winnings to be credited. In the event that they aren’t, please contact our support centre.
